The Last Days of Autumn

Although fall ... or autumn... I suppose I should get used to calling it autumn, since I live in the UK now- is out the door and its all about the Christmas spirit, I still can't help loving tweed and knee high boots. My autumn uniforms are statement skirts, cream blouses and knee high boots. The skirts always take center show and the knee high boots go with everything.

Gucci Stripes

It goes without saying that Gucci has absolutely amazed with their new collection. I am a girl obsessed. So when I got this Gucci mini skirt as a birthday present for myself in late July, I had been dying to wear it ever since.  It's classic Gucci with their signature stripe and timeless style.

I originally pictured it as the perfect summer outfit, paired with a cream pussy-blow blouse, picnic-ing in Green Park or strolling down boutique lined shops, but weekend after weekend we got busy and I never had the chance to wear it. Then soon enough Autumn arrived and I thought my chance to wear it would be gone, I was devastated to think I would have to wait an entire year to wear this gorgeous piece.... that is until I found this navy pussy-blow blouse. It transformed the outfit into Autumn perfection and at last I got to wear my favorite purchase of the season!

New Kitchen Tour!

The dream is real! We finally have our new kitchen. There are soon many things I want to share with you guys. It took loads of planning and two weeks of work, but it's a success. However, I'm afraid no good kitchen remodel is complete without a before picture. So if you want to see before scroll to the bottom where I hid the ugliness.

We chose our kitchen from Wickes (a British equivalent of home depot), the range is called Kendall cream. I picked the style because I felt it was classic and modern, yet still timeless. One of my decorating pet peeves is when people pick high trend items and they become very dated. In my opinion high gloss kitchens are the next avocado bathroom suites. Buyer Beware!- but all styles will age with time.

Initially I was torn between white and cream, because my favorite kitchen I have ever seen is Rachel Parcell's gorgeous white and marble kitchen from PinkPeonies.com. It is hands down the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Never the less, Wickes discontinued the white and the decision was made for us. The cream then influenced the design approach I wanted to take. It felt a bit more warm to me so I leaned more towards country chic and then added the high gloss tiles to add a more modern twist. Its very appropriate as we do live in Surrey.

The next really cool design feature we have in the kitchen is the high gloss white ceramic floor tiles. I repeated them as a backsplash around the wall as well. Most people use smaller tiles as backsplashes, but having smaller tiles means have more grout lines, which means more potential for dirt! Not only is it practical, but its also cost effective.

We found this amazing spice organizer on Amazon. I love the design because it lets you see all of your spices laid out, as well as being able to hold quite a lot of spices.

One of the more designer aspects of our kitchen was this pull out cabinet. Its not the most efficient use of space, but it is super convenient.

All of our appliances are Russell Hobbs classic range in chrome. The tea bag tin is Emma Bridge water and the adorable cookbook holder and the chicken oven mitt (below) is Laura Ashley.

Our before photo... yikes

Save the Date

Our save the dates arrived and I have finally sent them to everyone, so I thought I would post a review and share my save the date with you guys. We ordered our std's from WeddingPaperDivas, which I love! I got my graduation announcements from there and they were classy, timeless, and chic, so I knew they were the place to go. I'm a really formal and traditional person, especially when it comes to wedding planning, so I love save the dates, because I feel they are an appropriate time to have a little fun and be expressive (and an actual invitation is no place for a photo!).  Let me know what you think!

Dressing Room Desires

I can't believe I am about to say this, but the upstairs of our house is almost finished! It has been a long, hard, and grueling last 2 months renovating, but so worth it (kind of). As soon as Harry and I arrived back from our wedding planning trip to LA, we found a tenant for our flat and had to move out in a matter of days. We dumped all of our possessions in the downstairs of our new home and retreated to Harry's parents' house for two weeks, while we attempted to chip away at the DIY and painting. After two weeks we decided to move into our place, so we set up camp on our spare bed in the middle of our living room... YES, we had a full size bed in our living room! And it was only until this last Saturday that we got the bed moved into our bedroom upstairs. So there will be a bedroom post soon (hopefully).
Dressing Room Desires

Our new home has what British people like to call 3 bedrooms, but what I (as an American) like to call 2 bedrooms and a closet ;) so I thought I'd post some inspiration for my new dressing room. Blush and gold have always been my colors, since I was 13 years old and all of my cool friends loved red and black and Paul Frank, but I wanted a pink and gold Bat Mitzvah. Je ne regret rien! Anyway I can't wait to see how the final product turns out!

Cake Tasting!

So I recently made another trip to Santa Monica/Los Angeles to do the last bits of wedding planning that required me to actually be there, one of which was ... Cake Tasting! The Casa del Mar offers 5 different places to get your wedding cake from, which is included in your wedding package: Vanilla Bake Shop, Sweet Lady Jane Bakery, Butterend Cakery, Fantasy Frostings, and Bottega Louie. We managed to hit 4 of the 5 shops and skipped Bottega Louie.

Our cake flavor samples to try

Flavor wise each shop had different flavors they were strongest at baking. When it boiled down to picking our favorite flavors, we picked different flavors at each shop. At Vanilla Bake Shop I think we picked their Coconut and Carrot Cake, but at Sweet Lady Jane we picked their Red Velvet and Princess Cake (their red velvet was my favorite of all the flavors we tasted!). I was also surprised to see Red Velvet at only two of the shops, I guess it must be a trend of the past now! Design wise the shops were pretty happy for you to guide them, which to me is perfect.

Can't wait to reveal the final cake and design!

Bob Bob Ricard- Press for Champagne!

I have been so so so so... SO busy doing up the new house that I haven't a second to think. Luckily, Harry and I escaped to Bob Bob Ricard in London- and what a great way to escape! We went on a double date, to the gorgeous art deco style restaurant in Soho on Saturday night. BBR is most famous for their ingenious Press for Champagne button, which we definitely made use of. So decadent! I love their menu, its clean, fresh, and tasty. I ordered the lemon sole goujons for main and the milk ice cream and Amaretto for dessert. Harry however, ordered the BBR signature dessert, (below). A chocolate orb covered in lustering gold dust and filled with passionfruit, chocolate mousse. I think he was in L-O-V-E.
